I’m documenting my personal fasting journey as I work through the last stretch of weight I want to lose. I’ve already dropped over 40 pounds, and I’m listening to my body as I decide each fasting and refeeding cycle.
Depending on how I feel, I may do a 5 day fast with a 5 day refeed… or a 7 day fast with a 5 day refeed… or a 3 day fast with a longer refeed. Nothing here is a plan for anyone else — it’s simply the rhythm that works for me right now.
I’m currently 79, and I’ve spent decades working under the frowns of Mexican fan palms, around sawdust, and breathing chainsaw exhaust. So the fat I still have feels like it’s holding onto a lifetime of that work.
Fasting has become one part of my personal wellness journey as I work through it.
I’m also working toward reducing my medications under medical supervision, and I’m taking this one step at a time.
My goal is simple: Listen to my body. Adjust as I go. Keep moving forward. And as for rebuilding all my muscle… I’ll handle that sometime in the next 500 years, after I get the youth pills, the robots to grow my food, and the flying car that waxes itself.
